well i went an priced some poly hay rings.an they are $235ea.an i was shocked because i figured they would be $350ea.so it would cost close to $3000 to replace all the hay rings.or $1000 more or less using sq tubing hay rings.an no im not replacing them all at once.

Had a poly one once. The bulls smashed it to pieces on a -30 degree day. I bet they would be great in Texas, where it never gets below freezing.

im giving them some serious thought.because the tubing hay rings only last 5 to 7yrs.

Sounds like a great idea, but like JHM said, not for the cold weather! lol I've never even seen them up here. I'm powdercoating all our outside metal items so they last, but I have connections to do it cheap. The only thing I'd worry about is them destroying it, cause you know how cows just looooooooooveeeee to do that, even when they arn't trying...

I've seen them here at one place. I wonder too, how long before the cows would smash them. I thought they might be good for someone with a few cows that wouldn't be fighting at the feeder.
