Is she bigger and older than him - unusual for a boar to give way to the ladies unless he's not the boss (if thats the case god help him). The ground is like a concrete moonscape here so we are seeing more minor foot / hoof injuries this year but pigs can get some nasty abcesses in their feet. Have a go at feeling for heat and any swelling around the padded underneath area and nasty smells.

This heat is a killer right now. It really can play havoc with all the animals. If he will roll over for a belly rub for you then you should be able to check his feet out. He may have just twisted his foot. One of our boars does this from time to time - limps for a few days & then is back to normal. If he is eating normally now then that is your big concern over.

I should ask another question though - is he overweight i.e fat?! If he is them slim him down ASAP. A fat boar is not good. How old is he?

Hope he gets better soon,

Liz

It looks to me like he twisted his right rear foot a bit. Not sure what to do for him?
Oh! :( I'm not sure there is anything you can do. You certainly can't bandage it to give him support - he will tear it off in no time. All you can do is wait & see if it heals by itself. Sorry!
