Itā€™s still raining. šŸ˜• Weā€™re getting close to 12ā€ of rain at this point. The water that was up to 32ā€ at the gate this morning, is now close to 40ā€ deep.

This picture is from the road looking across my front pasture towards my house.

You can barely see some of the fence posts.

I ended up making a grocery run to town this evening. I was just going to go to the dollar store down the road to get a couple things, but when I called my BIL to see if they needed anything, the list got too big and I decided Iā€™d just go to an actual grocery store. Theyā€™ve got enough groceries to last them for a while.

ā€”ā€”ā€”

I took in a couple of parakeets from someone at work a couple years ago. They werenā€™t handled at all and were happiest just being left alone in their cage. One of them died last year and the remaining bird seemed happy enough by herself. She got to the point where sheā€™d chatter at me whenever I was in the room with her, but sheā€™d panic if I tried to handle her.

When I got back from VT last summer, she was extremely depressed. Sheā€™d had minimal interaction while I was gone and she was silent and subdued. I got her a much bigger cage and a new friend to try to cheer her up. Unfortunately there was something not quite right with the new guy and he didnā€™t live long.

I didnā€™t have to get another bird friend for her because she suddenly decided that I was her friend. She started let me touch her beak through the cage and sheā€™d climb around on the side that was closest to me and squawk at me.

Today we had a break through in our friendship!

ā€”ā€”ā€”

The lambs are bored since theyā€™ve been stuck in the barn for days. That means I get mobbed the second I walk in the pen. Even the shy lambs are starting to follow me around.

So sorry to see that flooding... and there was some on the news that was horrible in Clay City ???? We are in line to get some rain today and tonight... maybe an inch... It makes me feel so bad with the 12 inches or more you are getting. We need some rain so I am not complaining and it does not look to be the kind of pouring down rain. South central Va is due to get 3+ and there will be some flooding as it always does... but it still is minor in comparison to what you have seen.

Itā€™s bad all over KY. A lot of major roads are closed. I was asked to work today because a bunch of people canā€™t get to work.

WOW - that's a LOT of water. EEEK. Those bored lambs are going to ask for water wings, and you certainly don't need rubber duckies you've already got the real ones.
Wasabi is adorable. We had keets eons ago. Jeepers and Creepers. DS had a cockatiel when he was little. That bird lived on his shoulder. Fun memories.
