Sleepy cat toes! Hahaha! Definitely POW!

Amazing how a calm moment with our sheep brings everything right in our world again. I love time spent with my sheep. I’m glad you had a lovely day hanging out in the barn with your sheep.

The new boys from this morning

They are both gray under their dark tips. Their combined weight is only 3lbs less than the twin Border Leicesters from Tuesday. Pretty impressive considering the size difference in their moms. Linga is around 80lb, Hirta is around 120.

Farr is ready to evict her spawn. She’s been miserable all day. Didn’t eat her grain this afternoon, lots pacing, but so far not actively doing anything.

I’ve got 4 ewes threatening to lamb and with storms rolling in, hopefully they’ll get busy. They’re all penned up so I can find them on the cameras easily.

My BIL bought a 3yo Jersey cow today. She's 4 weeks fresh and off an organic Amish farm. She’s skinny and a little timid, but she stood quietly without restraint or snacks for milking tonight.

Her name is Annie and she’s only got 3 quarters. I’m not sure if she lost a quarter due to mastitis/injury or if it never developed, but the bad quarter is nice and small so it shouldn’t cause her any issues.

She got treated for lice immediately and got a CD&T shot.

I moved my milking machine and supplies from VT with me and now I’m glad I did. My BIL is going to tune the pump up and we’ll need to get new inflations and air/milk lines. She’ll be fine to hand milk until it’s back up and running.

My bestest boy. 💕 He looks all clean and fluffy like I’ve spent time bathing and grooming him, but really he played with sheep next door (my sister was working dogs), went for a swim in the pond, and then air dried running through the woods.

He never plays with sticks unless I’ve got the camera out.

Tell your ewes to lamb during the storm. To spite you, they will lamb now or wait until after the storm. LOL

Cute lambs and Twist is beautiful as almost always.

A Jersey cow! How awesome! She may be skinny now but that won’t last long. She will be sleek and filled out in all the right places in no time.

How great to live next to your sister and BIL. Sharing work and someone to help when needed. And now y’all share a cow!

I’d love to share a cow, but nobody around here is interested. I live in a poor county. Beats the heck out of me why in an economically depressed area, people do darn little to provide for themselves. All this land and the main goal is beef cattle and hay. Very few even raise a garden. Lots of timber land. The couple hundred acres next to me just got clear cut. Pastures, mostly empty, others for cattle or hay. I’m the weirdo with sheep.

Jemima had a 13lb girl around 5 or 6 this morning and Farr had a single solid black girl at 0845.

I’m disappointed Farr only had one, but at least she gave me a girl, she gave me 2 boys last year. No spots at all. She didn’t have any spots last year either so I’m guessing she isn’t a spot carrier. Her baby doesn’t have “sugar lips” and her fleece looks really dark down to her skin so maybe she won’t be gray. 🤞 I have too many Shetlands with the gray gene and I’m trying to lower that number.
