Notre Lee will be delivering soon. She is an all black pygmy. Non registered and not registrable. She is due to have a baby soon and I want her and her baby to go to the same farm. She's honestly on the skittish side but is herd queen all the way. She is a little under 2 yrs old, this is her first time having a baby and will most likely have a singleton. She is wide enough to have twins or triplets in the future, is stocky, has beautiful feet and stands squarely. She has great udder potential, her udder is held high and tight and has great attachment. She will be UTD on wormer and feet trimmed at time of sale, she is also being dehorned (will not be sold until her horns are gone). If her baby is a buckling, he can be banded on day of sale if requested for no extra charge. price for mom and any baby(s) she has is $280. I want her to go to a good home, if she doesn't find someone soon ill have to auction her and her baby off and I really don't want to do that. On
farm pickup only.

How is she being dehorned and why? Am I correct to say I see bands on the horns in picture laying down?

Have you done this before? How'd it go? I've read about, just not tried it. 😊

I'm curious also why you would dehorn her if you're selling her? Dehorning by banding can be a real mess. It's possible, but often times the horns break off early and bleed excessively. Also, it's kind of stressful for a late bred doe.

Yes you are correct there are bands on her horns. I have done it before with great results, the horn came clean off, little bleeding. I have also done it before with semi-poor results (horn popping early)

I started the dehorning process before I even decided to sell her, she needed to be dehorned because she was such a risk to my other goats literally trying to impale them. I am aware of the risks involved with dehorning with bands, but fortunately I am home 24/7 and can keep an eye on them. The only does that has bands on a horns right now stays in the backyard 24/7 doesn’t even go over with the other goats (except for Josephine, who she doesn’t bully, is in the backyard with her)
