I was on a rabbit page and someone was describing a scenario which sounded familiar. She ended up having her doe put down and dissected. The diagnoses was Pyometra.

So here's my situation....

A bought a doe end of January, supposedly bred. a week or two after I brought her home she made a beautiful nest, but never had any babies. So a few weeks later I put her in with my buck and had 4 falloffs. Two weeks later I tried to feel for the "marbles" but felt nothing, so I put her back in with the buck, but she didn't want anything to do with him. So her due date from the fall offs was the 21st.
A couple weeks ago she made another beautiful nest, and there's still no babies. She seems to be quite round, but I can't feel anything in her belly.

So is it possible it's Pyometra? I haven't noticed any of the other symptoms. Except for maybe she's not a very friendly rabbit.

TIA

Pyometra is an infection in the uterus. Dogs can get it whether they've been bred or not, and it usually drains and smells very bad. Being an infection, it presents with a high temperature and lethargy, etc. I don't think it is very common in rabbits.
My guess would be false pregnancy, which is actually common in rabbits. I think that's more likely if she's making a nest weeks in advance.

I don't go on palpating them, I just wait 31 days. I suck at palpating and can never feel anything.

Well, I decided to see what would happen if I put he back in with the buck today, and sure enough, 3 fall offs. I'm just going to go ahead and eat her.

I have 10 days and if one of mine doesn't have babies this time, I'm eating her too. At least they can always be eaten if they won't produce.

We processed her along with some grow outs and the buck. She wasn't pregnant. Everything inside looked normal.
