I am picking up a doeling today. One that I know I will need to be quarantine because the breeder says he has had scald on his farm.
So, I am fine with treating her feet. I am happy to have her and will do what I can to care for her.
What do you guys recommend for her care during quarantine?

I dont want her to be alone, so I will put one of my doelings in with her.... and then treat them both, I guess.

Ideas? insight?

Thanks :)

We quarantine for 30 days and deworm every 10 days during that time. They also get tested during that time. Other than that we just monitor carefully until the month is up.

Foot scald isn't contagious, but often is a precursor to foot rot. If it's just foot scald, you can still treat it like foot rot but likely she won't pass it to your doeling. If you give her a dry place, she'll likely clear up on her own. Foot scald is caused by damp conditions, so eliminate the damp conditions and the problem goes away. If it is foot rot, it is contagious and I would NOT put her in with another goat until you can treat her. She'll be fine until you can get the problem under control. You can treat with zinc sulfate, copper sulfate, Hoof N Heel, or 7% iodine. Koppertox also works well.

thanks guys. I ended up bringing home 2 new kids :)
My plan is... (if you think this is wrong let me know).....
I will treat their feet today and every day for a week or so. I see no sign of problems they are it great condition, but to be safe I'll treat them with hoof and heel medication.
Breeder suggested a dose of LA200 just in case, and I will worm them. After a few days I'll give them copper too. Weather has been hot and dry, and I am setting up a nice little yard for them away from my other goats. They are beautiful babies aprox 10 weeks old. Photos soon.
