Has anyone used the Quest paste wormer on sheep.
If so what was the dose you used.
I ask this because quest is moxidectin which is cydectin.
Thanks for any info you have.

I have used it by calculating the weight down to the weight of my sheep using the dosage on the tube. I found it to be a pita. I also used cydectin pour on for cattle as a drench for my sheep. Nasty stuff. Ate the marker lines right off my syringes (used for drenching not injecting)
They make a sheep drench that is user friendly although expensive.
I have been having good luck with prohibit (lavamisole) but do not have a parisite issue so that is a huge contributing factor.
I do know I wohld not use any moxidectin product on my dogs, although I will use ivermectin. I have seen several cases if reactions to moxidectin on several different breeds. Remember the 6 month heartworm shot a few years ago? That was moxi and it was with that I saw reactions.

Just my personal experiences. I am certainly not at expert.

According to the Zoetis website (the manufacturers of Quest), the product is not to be used on any species other than horses. It could be safe, but why risk it?

Thanks bc.
I'm willing to do the math in order to shave costs.
I know with the Ivermectin paste you triple the dose. I just didn't know if this was the case for the Quest product.

I know very little about sheep at this point....but I do know that you should not use Quest on Miniature Horses. As sheep are a similar size I would question the safety margin, having to know exact weights, not to mention the crossover of species issue.
Would be interested to hear if you did use the product & what the results were...as I see your post was from October.
