Has anyone tried these medications for a sheep that just never lambs? Our dorper ewe is almost three years old and has never had a lamb and someone suggested using these medications before we give up on her. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has used these medications with or without success. Thank you.

don't know of anyone using it... interested to hear. although our ewes get two tries and if they don't lamb in 2 years, they become someone else's problem. we need breedability and mothering in our genetics, so there's no point in our strugling to breed a ewe that isn't getting it done on her own.

I'm the one who suggested it. Haven't used it on sheep, but have often used it on cows. Should work the same way on most any mammal. It will cause the cysts to break open so the animal can begin to cycle normally. When these cysts break, they release estrogen, and it will cause the animal to go into heat. If there are a lot of cysts, the animal will REALLY show symptoms of heat, much like Paris Hilton. LOL!

phoned the local vet...and if my beloved Suzie does not lamb within a week...she will be getting shots...vet said only one shot is needed for cows and dogs, but looked up the dosing for sheep and we will be giving her a shot for 4-5 days...leave her in with the ram and watch...this is her last chance and I really hope it works!!!

every once in a while a non-producer worms their way into your affections... we have one sheep and one goat that have managed to work their way out of the breeder pool and into the pet pool...
mostly I keep my head, but every once in a while...

If this is indeed the problem, she will do her Paris imitation, but she most likely won't settle on the first heat. It would be good to see if she does come into heat right away, because then you will have diagnosed the problem. Just be prepared to let her cycle again in a few weeks, and that's the most likely time that she will settle. After this she should be on a regular cycle, unless there's something else wrong with her.
