I have two german sheperd girls, 19 months old, who will whelp around Dec 6, 2024. This is a first pregnancy for both. Yeah, this is an oops on me.

I'm setting but my goat birthing stalls for their individual whelping boxes. Will they be ok side by side divided by a cattle panel. Stalls are 4' by 8' and the boxes will be 4' by 4' and I have a heat lamp if it gets cold.

What, and when do I do puppy shots? Any suggestions?

Thanks for any suggestions/advise!

Virginia is for Pasture Farmers!
Pups will escape cattle panels. Need to secure it so they can't cross it, 2-3ft high.
Moms need to be dewormed before birth, pups dewormed every 2wks.
What to vaccinate might depend on location.

Don't use the cheap glass Chick heater bulbs, even ceramic isn't great. Primer1 makes a plastic one that's the safest.

I don't have GSDs. But breeders of GSDs I know personally have trouble with intact bitches being together even without litters on the ground (giving fair meaning to "bitch fight"). Though your girls are still "puppies", so they may not have hit that stage.
As far as a whelping area you should have a pig-rail around the inside perimeter so they are not crushed when the dam lays down. Sides should be solid to keep pups in, and about 1 1/2-2ft high. The dam should be able to get in and out with ease - the front can be lower and have slats to gradually raise it to keep pups from escaping.
Worm with Nemex 2 - at 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, and 10 weeks. DHPP shots at 6-8 weeks 3 weeks apart for a series of 3 shots.
Good luck with two bitches at once - could be great, and maybe not.

Update.... or should I say pupdate!

Scout Starship Emma has landed and her eight passengers, strangers in a very strange land, have emerged, but stay very close to their mothership.

3 cream colored and 5 dark colored passengers all active and eating well.

Mother Starship Lucy is still enroute and has radioed that it will go into orbit when it is good and ready, thank you very much.
