Thank you gentlemen for both sharing good advice. I will be sure to look for a good deal on a subscription for Acres USA, the Animal Science Department at UCD [they have been incredibly helpful so far], and I will also contact the San Joaquin Farm Advisor. Great recommendations and I appreciate you!

Wisdom is found in the multitude of counsel...

psssstttt.......... I'm not a gentleman........ I'm a CRAZY TEXAS GAL!!! :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Whoops:oops:...I apologize Baymule!:hit

And I hope I did not offend you! Please forgive me.

Southeast Texas...hmmmm....how nice. May I ask which part of Texas do you reside in? I just looked at the map...Brownsville, Houston, Corpus Christi, Galveston, or......?

I was born in Austin, my grandparents spent most of their lives in Laredo, my dad grew up in Laredo, graduated from Texas State as a Longhorn, and we still have lots of friends and relatives that reside in Texas!

Although I was born in Austin, I grew up in the Silicon Valley as a total city slicker, and now live on a ranch in the central valley of lovely California!

Lately, we have been considering the possibility of moving to Texas to escape several undesirable influences in California. One example: the obnoxious over reaching and the over regulation from the super long arms of California's politicians and law makers.

Anyway, I will amend my future posts by saying thank you ladies and gentlemen!

Well, that is good news. Thank you for not taking offense.

I was comparing weather in Texas to California, and it appears to be a little bit warmer there...

A bit warmer and quite a bit more humid.(my brother lives there)

I get so tired of the messed up laws and regulations in this wonderful state of CA but the weather here is darn hard to beat.

Bagsbad,

I totally agree with you in both of the areas you addressed.

The Weather:

Our planted pasture is growing right now at a rate of .5"-1" per day and it's only the first week in Feb. Rate of growth will increase exponentially. One of my best friends moved to Wyoming to raise cattle. They often won't even see one blade of green grass until after March! Here, with the pasture planted, I will have luscious green grass and clover from Nov. - April most years and I will not pay a penny. So that is 6 months free sheep food/feed, all they can eat. And that is hard to beat! I am presently experimenting with fava beans, planted in Nov., harvested in March. Only cost: seed. It is suppose to provide exceptional fodder/sileage.

I am hoping irrigation costs won't be too much for the other months...

The Laws:

How's this for whacked out:

Boys in our K-12th grade schools who feel like they are girls can now use the girls restrooms and girls lockerrooms...
You may only throw a Frisbee at the beach in Los Angeles County, CA with the lifeguard’s permission.
It’s unlawful to let a dog pursue a bear or bobcat at any time.

And finally, I have added some more of the crazy laws via pictures. Have a good laugh everyone!

Soar

Now how exactly does one "annoy" a lizard?

The boys in the girl's restroom is just frightening on too many fronts to even address it. Just makes me glad that my kids are grown. I hated public schools 15 years ago, they would probably kick me out of the PTA if I had to go through it again.

Not sure about other people here, but I definitely remember how I annoyed lizards when I was younger...

We would find a 3-4 ft. piece of tall grass seed stem. Pick it off at the root level. Make a noose at the top end [it was very thin diameter], then from 3-4ft away from the lizard, reach out and place the noose of the grass around the lizard's head...caught them every time!

Never failed if you tied the noose correctly!

And it sure did annoy the lizards...they never did figure it out!

PS We always did let them go afterwards....

Special update: I hope to install the woven wire fencing in the next 2-3 days. Then I hope to give a report on how the sheep are doing in the pasture!

To Be Continued...
