Ok I have a dwarf nigerian nanny. She had 2 babies which sorta surprised us because we did not think she was ready yet due to the small size of her udders. They never got all swollen looking or huge like I have seen. Not even as big as the really large grapefruits. So we ended up having to milk her because it was so cold the babies got in trouble and she walked away from them. So one udder feels different from the other and we get maybe a half ounce of milk from it. There is the firm section that you can feel and its like golf ball size. it also feels different from the other side. Almost like that firm part is not attatched. Not sure if that makes sense but the side thats producing feels totally different. Its not just that its a good bit larger but I can't really describe the difference. I guess one side feels attached and the other does not. Any ideas what I am dealing with here. She does not produce enough to feed the kids at all despite all my best efforts and suggestions from every goat person I know. She is a sweet sweet girl but I am just not sure what is going on with her.

You will need to supplement the kids if she is only producing an ounce. A standard size baby needs about 16 ounces a day eventually.

Oh of course. The babies are 4 weeks old now and I have had to supplement the whole time. I am more concerned that this is something genetic and will happen every time she is bred. It may be what determines if she is bred again. I was just looking for reasons this might happen that I can look into.

Oh, sorry. I misunderstood you. I am not sure about that, it may be genetic. Some does never come into milk after kidding, but I have never heard of them just producing a tiny bit. Hopefully someone else can help you out. :)

I sorta feel like there is something wrong with one of the udders. It just feels off and it never got bigger as the pregnancy developed. Just got bigger on the one side really.
