Rabbits shedding

I have been really busy for the last year, and quit breeding my rabbits last spring, so they've had a nice long break. This winter, to keep drafts off of them, I covered their cages with plastic sheeting. This last month they are all shedding quite a bit, which is odd since it has been so cold. Is this normal? Is anyone else seeing their rabbits shedding this month?

I've got one male that is shedding like there is no tomorrow. The others will probably start in soon. You should be able to see a new coat under the massive shed. This poor little dude looks like an angora, and he isn't.

I think it is normal. Mine seem to do it at the most wretchedly cold time.

Both of my does are shedding so much the hair I think I could make a sweater.
