Had a thought….. wanna stir the pot? Post this on the fb groups. Think about it, SOMEONE is going to make a killing on this.

I am new to the area, and I don’t know everyone and all their extended families. Could by chance, any of these politicians who are pushing this agenda on people who don’t want it, could any of these politicians have relatives who are contractors/builders? Or real estate agents? They would stand to make a financial killing buying up farmland that was zoned out for farming, thus would sell CHEAP. Then cut up into subdivision lots, sell for big bucks and make a ton of money off the farmers misery.

I’ve always heard follow the money. There has to be some financial gain for them to be pushing this so hard. Maybe they themselves want to buy up the farmland, maybe even through a proxy so their names aren’t on their ill gotten gains. This has to be all about the money and what they themselves stand to benefit from it.

YEP. That is what's going on.
Get rid of the "undesirables". Buy up their discounted land made worthless. Build more 2 acre lot mcmansions with extra lawn.

We're not the main target here, but they could fit 3 2 million dollar mcmansion lots in our 6 acre lot and the planning comission has already said they want to re-zone it and the wheat field across the street and our neighbor's houses to the "dense" McMansion zoning.

These aren't even lower income dense housing either. There's a HUGE demand for that (I have a friend who manages actual low income housing in Springfield and she says her wait list is 4 years long and growing). This is a money making, possible kick back, snobification scheme happening and it's really depressing to watch. But I guess as long as DH wants to take his kids home this is not going to be my problem. Not that I won't try to help these people in the right directions when I can. I'm sort of glad somebody called the news.

*I'm letting other people spread the word on FB groups. The aldermen are going after them on all the local groups. I'm not in the mood for a personal attack from a stranger.

Sorry for being vapid, today I have a cold and the boys are on spring break so it's a regular party breaking up fights, shoveling food in faces and wishing I had enough gasoline in my tank to do dishes and tidy.

Austin, Boston, Seattle, or a multi million dollar area of Virginia technically (boss wants him in Virginia, DH is paid good but not THAT kind of good). He's taking a risk going to where his co-workers are living, but he's willing to quit and work somewhere else after a looooong career there. They'd have to fire most of the team. He wants to go home to stay (like his dad did after living in TX for a while...maybe it's part of the programming).

His company always puts the office in family unfriendly places, definitely farm unfriendly places. Always VERY expensive to own a house. They want young, hip, unattached, usable, interchangeable cog, apartment dwelling programmers. DH started out that way, but he's almost 40 now and he's...picked up a few things along the way that he's always wanted. Life.

This would all be so much easier if the company higher ups were not throwing their weight around and insisting everyone work in office 3 days a week (probably going to be 5 as soon as they have an excuse for another round of firings to shake people up to let them know who's in charge). They don't actually need to be in person very often. DH still hasn't technically been in person with his team yet except for one or two "off-sites" where they all went to DC. They're mostly all in PA with a few in other countries and he's been working "remote" from their building surrounded by other teams. We'd just move somewhere on the edge of a borough or little town/city he likes to a house and a property he/we like and that would be it. He'd work just like he's working in the office building now from an office at home.

Could he change companies?
Probably, but not for a while. Not a good time for software programmers right now.
This is an interesting step for DH. He's picking the place and forcing work to work. I think if they tried to move him again after he goes home he'd quit and be working for someone else regardless of timing.
