Mom sent me a pic of my pen full of "naughty elves". Yep, that about sums it up. I'm thinking I need a creep gate so I can let them out to stay. They explode into coccidia if they don't have access to medicated feed...but the new place is going to change everything up so I should wait.

We closed on the house and I got to see it for the first time. I've got a lot of work to do. Gates need to be goat gates and the bucks need a pen put up in the old row barn away from the main barn. Everyone is going to be stalled on the horse barn for a while.

Monday

We made it home and have begun purging the house of the things we do not want to unpack. I'm resting currently from standing up and walking around all day. Tonight we plan to finish the kitchen after getting a late start.

Mark shoveled the coop for me because chicken dust makes me asthmatic while I worked on taking the electric chicken fence down and then we took the rest of it down together.

Iris the mini saanens has mastitis-lots of slime and sediment on one side and she's feeling poorly, so she's getting the works-injected antibiotics and lots of Today. Kind of bad timing considering our CVI is Wednesday.

I called ADGA while in the airport and they reprinted and speed mailed me the two missing pedigrees from them. MDGA just put the very last pedigree in the speed mail.

I'm going to need to invest in some electric netting and cattle panel when we're there for the bucks. There's an old structure separate from the main barn that's going to become my buck barn and it needs pens and all the gates need replacing or covering with fencing to make them goat worthy and to put something to block the gap by the opening side that's appropriate for larger stock but not for goats.

I had hired a transporter earlier to take the greater part of the goat herd. I'm probably bringing the bucks.

My hay pile is dwindling, which is perfect.

I'm busy being stressed and doing moving stuff but here's our new 10 acre property. The house is the farthest right building up top. A NORMAL sized house and not a Mc Mansion. The barn is behind and between what's left of the arena and house along the center. The weird structure I'm going to use as a buck barn is the big one towards the bottom of the lot behind that. Everything is going to need a lot of work.

Talk to you guys later when I come back up for air again.

Looks good!
No matter what or where, new or old there's always a lot of work to do - just different work :) . Remember to take time out and enjoy your new ranch. And -- what you think you want now may change by this time next year. Get what you need done now, then one project at a time -- ohhhhhhhhhhh yeah - easier said than done says one with a few projects running at once

Actually, when the vet comes out for the CVI he can look at her. The import regulations for TX were only concerned with Brucellosis testing on bucks and rams over a certain age, and hoof rot. You are lucky to have so many outbuildings. Even needing work, having the buildings up is a time and money saver. Repairs are easier than completely buiding from scratch.
