I can not convince DH to do anything else.
Can he teach at a community college?
I'm a little concerned because local govt is demanding people take pets inside when it gets below freezing and some govt orgs are trying to extend that to livestock (that's not what the law says!),
 Livestock? Really? Horses, cows, sheep, goats al in the house ooping and peeing? That woild be a health hazard!

@Baymule - thank you for posting that recipe for biscuits. I bought the self-rising flour and we always have heavy cream BUT I forgot the recipe! Duh! LOL

Get your beef cattle in the house! Because if you're cold without a hoodie, they're quaking in their leather suits...
Sometimes I think it's more about rich and/or foolish people not having to SEE animals in inclimate weather rather than the animals' well being. The rich/foolish people have to be protected from reality and we must pay the price.

Someday maybe I will convince DH to teach computer science or music at a community college. Maybe. Or do programming for them. And then I'll get him into that walkable small town that lets you keep farm animals right outside the border (and has decent college prep schools for the kids and a community college right there). And in a house we bought with cash or near to it so no mortgage. That's what I wanted this move to be. That's what we talked about, explored, and then he abruptly threw under the bus...but that's also another thing I can't think too much about.

I remember reading The Thorn Birds when it first came out. There's a quote in there about the difference between city people and country people. People in the city worry more about animals they don't have, but country people worry more about their few neighbors. I see some truth in that.

Yep. City people are humans that have lost the ability to care and relate to each other.

😂 I think we are going to fix our oven problem soon. I assigned DH to make bacon for the loaded potatoes to go with the goat leg roast (1 roast + 1 qt broth in crock pot for over night)and he did not use the plug in induction plate. Next thing I know I hear, "Rachel, the stoves turned all the way down to low and it's still burning my bacon!" No kidding. I yelled from across the house for him to turn it off and take it off the heat(the burners that work do not turn off right away either, they stay red for a lot longer than I know they should). Yep, that's life right now. (If the burners ever fail to turn off I know to scoot the stove forward and unplug it. We just need to avoid using the stove and oven for now. )

Why do they NEVER listen and then act like you never told them about a problem... even when you tell them a half dozen times.

Unplug it and don’t use it again. It’s too dangerous.

Because they don’t listen plus they wake up in a new world every day.
