Martindales in Sulphur springs is a mil that makes the stuff @Baymule uses. The NETX Coop in Sulphur Springs also has its own brand of feed. I will have to check both kinds out to see what the ingredients are. Luckily Sulphur Springs is only 15 minutes from the house. The vet is also in SS along with Lowes, Walmart, TSC, Atwoods, and 3 other farm stores. Doesn't have a Ross, Sam's Club, or Costco - they are an hour away, but I think the other stores will be the ones I patronize most for several years getting everything done on the ranch. LOL

Hopefully I'll have the nice feed. It hasn't been ordered yet.
Here's a pic to decorate the thread since I haven't been doing it much. The migraines this year have been something else.
Summer likes cleaning up everyone else's leftovers.

Great milking parlor. Are you using a machine? I love the shape of your head locks.
Hi, thanks! When I machine milk I'm using a capralite machine (w/simple pulse inflations) hooked up to various size milk buckets usually, but I'm hand milking from behind too...it kind of depends on what I feel like washing. I like teats and udders that let me easily milk from the back.
And thanks on the head locks too. I bought the stands from Goat stand . com for about as much as it would cost me to make one since I don't have a lot of scrap around. The big one is from early on in my goat career. They have shrunk over the years probably with cost of lumber and shipping. I'd like to start a project to build my own copy of the older larger one that can be attached to the one next to it. It would be nice to slowly replace my purchased ones with ones like the one i like. I'm going to have to use the right tools to make that head lock shape though. Mark has an idea on what's needed. It's probably going to be time to learn a new power tool.

An easy way to attach them together is to use a piece of plywood cut 15-18" wider that the combined widths of two stanchions. Move the stanchions apart enough to fit the plywood on top leaving the excess dimensions bridging the space between the stanchion platforms. Then cut out the excess inches of plywood in the middle from one end to make a seat 12-14" deep at the head of the stanchion. We milked by hand from the side and this seat gave us a spot to sit to strip the udders.

My heart is heavy tonight. We never get a rest. The city council in the hardly a town that I live in, that only formed to keep a landfill out 10-15 years ago, is proposing legislation to ban breeding of livestock, selling any animals or their products for any sort of financial gain. You can not even sell eggs. They have city council meetings but are not known for listening to people who show up and are very much known for doing whatever they want regardless of how they lit the town on fire. People do not vote at the meetings. There are a lot of people losing their livelihood this month. They are likely attempting to force the people who use agriculture as their retirement funds and those that use it to supplement their incomes so they can live here to sell to developers to bring in more taxes or other kickbacks. I really hope they do not pass it, but if they already went to the trouble to write it up together I expect it will. I guess we'll decide what to do as a family from there. I'm so tired.

That sounds over reaching to extreme....as well as stepping on some "rights". I'd there a Right to Farm law in your state? Any Cottage Farm laws? Those may give the population some rights that overpower? Research those things on Google. It may be helpful and prevent some of their wants.🤷
