Hey, you're off the hook for hosting. I've got no idea how things are going to go, but you might be able to take more of a back seat to worrying about it and you get to have your sister's presence for the holiday too.

My sister is a professional shopper. You can’t drag me in a mall with a bulldozer. Her house is perfect, decorated to the hilt with all kinds of what I consider to be cutesy crap. If I have to dust it, I don’t want it, except for essential items. She is pure city, shopping is her entertainment. I live down a dead end dirt road in the middle of nowhere and I’m perfectly happy. I’ve been here 2 1/2 years and she’s never come to visit. I go see her in her world. I’ll even go to those infernal craft shows and spend useless hours walking around with her while she touches everything and buys more cutesy crap, just to spend time with her. My grandparents, parents and brother are dead, she’s all I have left. She has COPD, polymyocitus (sp?) an autoimmune disease, and other health problems. For however long I have her, I’ll be there whenever she needs me. She is slowly sinking more and more into herself and that’s just how it is.

A boy and a girl, neither one have anything to do with her. The fault and blame are on both sides. She has 4 grown grandchildren and 2 young great grandchildren that she never sees. So she lives vicariously through my 2 kids and 3 grandchildren. I’m happy that my kids are so kind to her and encourage it. She loves to shop for my granddaughters and they love her.
