Rash, hives or injury

Hello all. Have a newer horse, no history on her. Have had her for about 3 weeks with no prob, vet check last Saturday...vaccines and she looks good just needs weight.
Today I noticed some raised patches of hair, about nickel size around and some dime size patches of missing hair. Doesn't seem to cause her pain or irritate.
Any advice or info?

If the underlying skin looks ok (no rash or scaly or crusty stuff, etc...), my first thought would be bites. How are she and the other horses getting along? Do you have a place you can separate her for awhile, or put her in with an easygoing horse?

She is the only horse we have. She is with our goats, only one has horns and he is not tall enough to reach her there. She actually does really good with the goats.
Might be some roughness where the hair is shedding but no redness, no crusty stuff. Will check her again tomorrow and get more pics.
Should I put any salve on her? There is no sign of open skin in the areas. Could she have bit herself while scratching?

The "raised hair around" would first make me think ringworm, although that is normally more circular. BUT....any of the fungal preps would not hurt if it were not what was there, so I would try it. Plus the cream & oils would help sooth the skin of any bite.

It does look like she was biting at herself, maybe some fly bites that itched. Any MTG ointment? stinks but works on almost any hair loss problems. Otherwise use Vaseline, triple anti-bac ointment, baby oil & Listerine mixed, etc.

AT LEAST -- that's what I would do if mine.

Her rump looks good - bet the rest of the her is nice, too..... pic hint.

Lol! Hint taken. Here is a full shot. I have some Corona ointment that I will apply and look into getting some MTG also.

It looks like a fungal infection made worse by summer heat. Mine used to get rain rot and huge areas would be bare from hair loss. I washed them twice a day with Pine-O-Pine water and they recovered quickly.
