Wondering if anyone can recommend a good organic pellet that won't break the bank and the best source for it. Shipping costs are obviously a factor since sometimes they make a good deal a not so good deal. We have a farm nearby that does an organic pellet $35 for 50lbs. Not sure I'm going to find a better price, but thought I'd check with the forum :)

Where are you located and what kind of animal are you feeding. I am in northeast Texas, I buy Texas Naturals chicken layer pellets for $26.95 for a 50 pound bag.

Welcome to the forum! Please put your general location in your avatar. If you need advice, sometimes it is better to know where you are.

do a google search for organic feed using your state and see what you find. In Texas, the shipping cost would be terrible to get it to you.

50 lbs of 16% protein pellets costs about $18 from Poulin Grain. Rabbits do not need pellets to survive, as long as you give them adequate supplements like oats and barley. It may be cheaper than buying special organic feed. One worry with this is that the rabbits will pick and choose what they like out of the mixed feed, and not get all of the nutritional value, like picking the M & Ms out of trail mix.

Sorry, I did not see this thread until now. I think that is about as good as a price as you will find. We buy ours at a farm that carries only New Country Organic Feed for various animals and it has been $40 for 50 lbs. of rabbit pellets. The one thing I cannot find is organic hay as we try to reduce toxins and avoid GMOs in our food chain as much as we can also.

If you have the space and connections you could form a friendly little co-op of sorts to do group buys so that all the feed is shipped to one place and then dispersed when it arrives or become a wholesale dealer, which would reduce your costs.

Thanks all. I found a local feed producer who sells 50# bags of organic for $33, which is the best I've seen. Plus I like to support my local farmers when I can, so it's a win/win.
