so that explains the anemia and black tarry stool. We will be treating with safeguard tonight, rotating pasture and cleaning cleaning cleaning. They are housed on a concrete floor. This has be the most frustrating month and a half. Ever. Poor babies.

wow, glad you found out the real culprit. I'm sure they'll feel a lot better after it's taken care of.

No, that is given 1x day orally for 3 days in a row- sometimes people do 5 days in a row depending on count.

The lab isn't very helpful because it gives EPG as 32, 9, and 2. :hu

Eggs per gram is done by measurement... there would be a multiplier depending on amount of fecal and amount of solution used.

These numbers are confusing... here is why... according to McMasters Method of EPG counts....

if ...
1gram of fecal/29ml solution= then 1 egg x 100 =Eggs Per Gram
2gram of fecal/28ml solution= 1 egg x 50= Eggs Per Gram
4 gram of fecal/26 ml solution= 1egg x 25 = Eggs Per Gram

so if 32 then
1grm= 3200 EPG
2grm= 1600 EPG
4grm= 800 EPG

So I don't know what there measurement form is. I noticed they have + and ++ for coccidia this is a concern.
The print is small so I cannot read the first row and what it says.

Last year I had one lamb that had bottlejaw and anemia for over a month, we used two different wormers that were only partly effective, finally a third class of wormer did the trick.

Keep good records of your goats, wormings and fecal counts. That may help you make decisions on who to breed, or not breed, or which kids to keep or sell. Good luck with your kids!

VERY good advice @norseofcourse :thumbsup

Keeping records shows you when you may need to change your management style. Sometimes it means culling.
20% of a herd is responsible for 80% of the parasite issues.

Problem goats should go to slaughter.
Some think that is cruel but IMO cruel is keeping an animal that cannot thrive is always struggling and that animal suffers in the long run.

Like Norse of course said keep track of your dewormers.

Many say Safegaurd doesn't work... yet more often than not you find out they are not using the product properly... wrong dosage, one dosage, and no repeat of fecals to determine the efficacy.

Sometimes with high loads it is best to do a round of Safeguard then follow with something like Ivermectin ( off label).

Wormers are in 3 different classes and each class works differently. You always want to use the mildest dewormer that will be effective. If you start out using the big guns then if resistance is built you have no where to go.
