I need help trying to diagnose what is going on with a rescue mare. My daughters and I are trying to get this mare back into health. She is thin and her hip seems to pop in place (it does not make a popping noise, just the best way I can describe it).
We have 1 local vet that sees large animals. I had him out. We took care of everything we could with him. Teeth & vaccines. We talked about her hip, he said it's a locking patella and will get better with her getting back into shape. It's not her patella. It's her hip.
Once she's gained the weight back, we'd like to at least work her. However we do not want to do anything to make the hip worse. Any thoughts? I will try to add a video.
