Obi is doing good. Still on antibiotics clavacillin for another 2 weeks - hasn’t been to the barn yet - he’s good at …… pouting now. 😶 He’s been off the carprofen for a few days now (pain and anti inflammatory) so far so good.
I’ll sneak a pic of him tomorrow with his “poodle legs”.

Did I miss that something happened to Obi?
I think you were in surgery or very close to it -- his elbow joint was septic. No idea why - er vet said he probably bumped it (Ummmm - no way everyone was on lockdown for the 2 weeks before) or "bad luck". My vet rolled his eyes at those. I think they (er vet) nicked the tendon sheath when they gave him the overnight IV with the antivenin back when he got the snake bite the month before.

Looks like I never posted here about Obi's last "adventure"
The day before we were supposed to leave for a wedding in CO Obi woke up in PAIN (he's stalwart about pain) and absolutely on three legs.
My vet was out of town, no one I knew to go to (isn't is always that way?). ER vet/ Specialty hospital we went. Same place we took him for the rattlesnake bite a month-ish ago.
After xrays and centesis they said his elbow joint was septic. Sent us home with tons of antibiotics, pain meds, and anti-inflamatories. I asked how this could have happened - answer bumping his elbow or "bad luck".
Umm no bumping because the dogs were on lockdown for the two weeks prior so no one would get hurt before we had to leave for a CO wedding.
They were supposed to call with the results of the culture on the fluid they took from the elbow - three to five days. I called six days later in the afternoon -- giving them time to still call. Finally got a call back and talked to the specialist doc - strep infection. I asked how long something like that would take to show up - got "That's a good question. He was a great dog while he was here." Asked a few more questions, including could this have been the result of a possible nicking of the tendon sheath when he was given an overnight IV with antivenin. Another answer -- "That's a good question. Did you breed him?" ('are you his breeder). Yeah to me every question I asked was gas-lit.

July 30 -- you can see the difference in hair length on his right leg - from bottom going up ...
normal, where he was shaved for the antivenin IV previously, and current from the elbow centesis.

And today Aug 20 sporting "poodle legs". Still on antibiotics and no work.

Glad he's doing better, that is some of the sh*tiest answers I've heard that a vet gave someone

I’m glad he’s doing better. Yeah, totally CYA answers. Any other emergency vets in the area you can go to next time?
There are a few. With the start of this being the rattlesnake bite we found that you have to call ahead to be sure they have the antivenin. Lots of snake bites here this time of year. They were the closest that had it 😶. Veterinary Specialty Hospital has several locations. I don’t know if they are a “chain” but from now on will treat them as such. There is another vet er about the same distance that I’ll put at the top of the “if needed, go here”. We used them once for an emergency spay.
