Hope there won't be many this year. 🤞It was in the rosemary bushes by the house o_O
Rattlesnake?

I've not seen any of those here, but I have killed a couple copperheads.

Yup rattlesnake. Hate them.
We do have king snakes and gopher snakes - both like to eat the rattlers. I looked into getting kings awhile back, didn’t look easy (esp with CA being CA ). I should start looking again and figure out a way). I lost count of how many rattlers we took care of.

Never had a rattlesnake at the Shadow Hills house in CA - lived there since '88 with open 100 acres behind us. Across the boulevard they were all over the place - on the trails, under porches, etc. On our side the place had been a huge chicken ranch 200 years ago. The owner was terrified of rattlers. He brought in over 100 King snakes and released them. No more rattlers. Plenty of Kings and gophers but no rattlers in our neighborhood. Eventually we were seeing King x gophers hybrids.

Get some Kings and release them - good rattler control. Check out herpetology clubs. Some of those guys breed snakes and sell them.
