Sage: Your area just had an earthquake. It was fairly shallow so felt far and wide. No damage reports. Just checking in to see how things are shaking 'round down there!!:weee
Yuppers it was earthquake time. Rock-n-Roll 5.2 and a 3.9 aftershock. Epicenter ~25 miles from home.
We're all fine - the house is fine (well built) and it did a bit of a cha-cha-cha dance. DH has an app on his phone to warn about eathquakes that sent it's OMG horrendously loud warning alert seconds before hand. I had no idea what the damn BEEEP BEEEEP BEEEEP was all about, nor did the dogs, spent a few seconds dismissing it in my mind to get out with dogs and leads. Stupid app -- lost what could have been valuable seconds.
But all in all, we are great, nothing fell.
I was in the greenhouse for the aftershock - didn't feel it but did see the lettuce leaves all dancing around!
.
There were a few landslides around closer to home...

Catching up Part 1
It's been awhile - too long for sure. Things kind of got busy. :\ such is life. Though busy is good.
Let's see - got a load of alfalfa. 70 bales - should last awhile I hope. Ranch is still green so that will help the feed bill.

Of course the ladies and lambs approve (even though there is greenery out there)....

Also helping the feed bill - the last of the lambs are all wrapped and packed. One to CA, one to us, and one to CO.

While at DS and DDIL for dinner - we opened a relabeled bottle of wine, took me a bit to read the label :weee...... (and I'd given up hope)...

Took a trip up to OR for a few days with DH, DS and DDIL stayed at amazing places....
This is the AirBNB....

Had absolutely the best food while in Portland.........

Stopped at a local creamery Briar Rose - excellent cheese...

The ranch sitter we had was absolutely fantastic. I felt bad because Ree came into season -- adding to how to handle all the dogs - and she rocked it. She fell in love with Twinnie (and Twinnie is not an easy dog). We will definitely have her back.

To be continued in next post (hit my photo limit!).

What does it cost to have lamb shipped?

Catching up Part 2

My best friend from way back when we were kids visited while in town for a few days. It was great to see her and spend quality time. The very sad and scary part is her short term memory has been shot to h#\\. So sad to see her struggle with it.

To get a picture like this....

You have to do something incredibly stupid like this.....

(I'm ok thank God)
Then DH comes to the rescue in the best "seen it on Gold Rush" fashion...

The gardens are coming along and the greenhouse has some great lettuce ready to start harvesting...

While the weather is still cool we're still doing the regular go out grazing....

and Sage the puppy is starting her sheep working career...

I think I'm all caught up.

Catching up Part 3
Almost forgot ...
I decided to give tanning a lamb hide a go....
Sitting in tanning solution...

Today rinsed out

Still steps to go, but looking good so far.
Took ~3 hours scraping the hide on butcher day. The rest so far hardly any time.
