Like others have said, wear a sweatshirt or something fairly thick and a pair of gloves. The scratching behavior is just what rabbits do. The more you handle it, the more calm it will get and can help stop the scratching issue. Most rabbits really don't like being held, and I don't really blame them!
Try putting your hand on their head over their eyes, so they don't see anything and that will help calm them down.
