Timothy hay is very low in food value. It's more for providing roughage to keep the food moving through and eliminate hair clogs in the intestines. Alfalfa hay is better in food value but most of the food is in the leaves and unless you handle it carefully it can shatter and lose them. Hay also helps satisfy the need to gnaw on something to keep the teeth worn down.

For 7 adults rabbits (3 large does, large buck, small doe, small buck, and a pet buck) and say roughly 50 kits throughout the year. How big should the dimensions of an alfalfa field be? I have a plot and room to expand it.........

Can you just sprinkle alfalfa seed, like clover?

Every time I grow cabbage, it has bugs in it (lots........beyond wanting to eat it). Maybe I'll plant some this year for the rabbits. :)
