Thanks yall. Sentry had so much heart, so smart and so much wisdom. To make it worse, BJ and I picked him out together. We made the decision to have the femoral head ostectomy surgery and months of therapy. We both loved him. Losing Sentry is losing another piece of BJ that I can never get back. I may be absent the next few days. I want to go hug him but he’s gone. After BJ died, Sentry gave me lots of hugs. He always made little throaty noises of joy because I loved him. And he loved me.

Bay, I really don't have words for you. You gave him everything you could and made a lot of hard decisions for him. And he clearly loved you.
I hope this doesn't come out the wrong way, but now he is with BJ, watching over you.

Sentry was ill once again with a mysterious illness that the vets have never been able to identify. He died Monday November 11, 2024.

I have fought for him, beginning with hip dysplasia surgery when he was only 9 months old. He nearly died 2 years ago from sickness that the vets couldn’t figure out what was killing him. He pulled through and recovered. He had another episode of it a year ago and the vets suggested it could be some kind of autoimmune disease. Whatever it is, this time he didn’t make it.

He has been such a good dog, in a body that didn’t work for him. He had such heart, loved me fiercely, adored my granddaughters and loved his work. I’m grieving but grateful that he came into my life.

I'm sorry. I can't think of anything else to say.
