Ridin' The Range
I picked up a new doe today (yes, there will be pictures as soon as I get on the stick and get them ) and she has 2 three-day-old doelings with her. They had full tummies this morning when I picked them up (10am).
They got introduced to my other 2 does and the 2 two-week-old bucklings today and they are all in together. They have seemed to work out their hierarchy with some fuss, but nothing major.
Now (5:30 pm), the doelings are trying to nurse. The doe is out of milk. One doeling has a full tummy, but continues to try to nurse. The other doeling does not have a full tummy and is continuing to try to nurse. I offered a bottle, but she isn't taking it. The doe that has the bucklings will let them nurse, but the doeling won't latch on to the other doe that is not her mama.
My question (finally), should I be concerned?
Any advice?
Thanks,
K
