I know someone who had a doe who won her age class at the ADGA National Show and was about as close as you could find to a "sure thing" at the NC Mountain State Fair.
Someone milked her out dry during the night before the show.

You can have a family membership in ADGA and use one herd name, and still have the child as the owner of the animals.
I'm confused as to your original post you said your child can't show the goat because it's a Nigerian Dwarf, but it's ADGA sanctioned?

Yes, the show is ADGA sanctioned. In the rules in the fair book it states all children under the age of 9 can not show and list everything besides rabbits and chickens.

Here is the information from the catalog on age.

AGE REQUIREMENTS
43. FFA members may participate as members until the end of the calendar year following the year of graduation from high school. (For example, a graduate this year is eligible until December 31 of next year.)

44. 4-H Age Requirements: The levels of membership for 4-H are age based. Each level is defined as follows: a. Primary Level: Must be 5 years old as of December 31, 2018 to exhibit at fair. Primary membership ends when members qualify as junior members. Exhibitors who are under 9 years of age on or before December 31, 2018 are not eligible to compete in large animal (Beef, Sheep, Swine, Dairy Cattle, Dairy Goats, Boer Goats, Market and Fiber Goats, Horse, Alpaca and Llama) competitions. Not eligible for sale. b. Junior, Intermediate, & Senior: Must be 9 years old on or before December 31, 2018. Exhibitors are eligible to compete/exhibit through December 31st of the year in which they turn 19 years of age.

45. Grange Members must be at least 5 years old on January 1, 2019 to exhibit. They may exhibit until the end of the calendar year in which they reach age 19. Members under 9 are not eligible for sale. a. All Grange Youth must be 9 years old on January 1, of 2019 to compete in large animal (Beef, Sheep, Swine, Dairy Cattle, Dairy Goats, Boer Goats, Market and Fiber Goats, Horse, Alpaca and Llama) competitions at California Fairs.

46. Independent Exhibitors must be at least 9 years old by January 1, 2019 to compete in large animal (Beef, Sheep, Swine, Dairy Cattle, Dairy Goats, Boer Goats, Market and Fiber Goats, Horse, Alpaca and Llama) competitions at California Fairs. a. Exhibitors are eligible to compete/exhibit through December 31st of the year in which they turn 19 years of age. b. Youth may be ineligible to participate as Independent if documented disciplinary action involving their project(s) has been taken against them by 4-H, FFA or Grange organizations. Length of ineligibility to be determined by fair management.

47. Small Animal Pre-Junior Class - Open to all junior
exhibitors 5 - 8 years old as of January 1, 2019; must be Kern County residents; Breeding Animals only, not eligible for sale.


My youngest does not turn 9 until July. My other 3 that want to show are older than 9.

I just got to the dairy goat information in the catalog. At the very bottom it says Nigerians are a small animal exhibit. She will be able to show. :) There's 90 pages, I have been slowly reading through. I just got to the Dairy goat page.

1. The American Dairy Goat Association recognizes this show as an official sanctioned show. For membership information contact: ADGA, P.O. Box 865, Spindale, NC 28160. The Junior and Senior shows are not separately sanctioned.
2. Original registration certificates, issued by a breed association, must be checked by the livestock office when the animals arrive on the Fairgrounds and must be kept on hand. All registration papers must be inspected and approved by the Fair’s representative before entries are allowed to be judged. Any exhibitor failing to produce such documents will be disqualified from the class and the entry fee will not be refunded. NO EXCEPTIONS.
3. Unless other rules are specified, this show will be held under the rules of the American Dairy Goat Association provided they do not conflict with any of the rules and regulations prescribed by the California Division of Fairs and Expositions and Kern County Fair.
4. All goats registered as Grade or Grade Experimental must show in the Recorded Grade Class.
5. Goats with a Certificate of Record as Native on Performance or Native on Appearance will show as a Recorded Grade.
6. There will be no official pre-show milk-out. Exhibitors must use their own discretion as to their own milk-out time for their particular doe. However, Does with over distended udders will be discriminated against.
7. All does two (2) years and older must be freshened at least once.
8. Registration papers and tattoos, or Microchips for all the Grand and Reserve Champions must be checked at the show by the Judge. You must have papers ringside.
9. To record a win, a goat must be permanently tattooed or have a microchip prior to being shown in its individual class on that day. Tattoo or Microchip must match registration certificate and Kern County Fair entry form. The tattoo must be legible, allowing for re-tattooing, (pre-approved by ADGA) but no variations other than partial or complete duplications. 10. Dairy Goats must be disbudded or dehorned. Scurs or regrowth cannot exceed 1 in. in length.
11. Age of goat is to be the date the goat is to be judged.
12. Blocking tables will be restricted to a designated area. Exhibitors will be limited to one (1) table/stance.
13. If exhibitor is not present prior to beginning of class, exhibitor will be scratched.
14. Show order is subject to change in order to make show run smoothly.
15. Dairy goats will be required to leave the fairgrounds following the show on Thursday unless they are entered into the Goats and Gold contest
16. Nigerian Dwarf Goats will be shown as a small animal exhibit.

That's about as low as you can go....
