Hello, I know the info is all here somewhere, but just want to run this by someone....
6-ish week old doeling, bottle raised, been doing great, eating well. Both doelings have a dry cough here and there, but Ive been told nothing to worry about. Anyhow, this AM Choo-choo wouldn't eat, AT ALL, and has clear runny nose with what I would call alot of snot! Temp is 102ish, but she was standing there looking pitiful and kind of shivery. I was expecting her to have fever. She has been getting yogurt in her bottles because both tried to scour a bit in transition from goat milk to whole cow milk. I also found out we were probably over feeding. I read where you feed them til there done, well obviously not. So both get about 12 oz twice daily now. Their stools seem to have straightened out now. SO what do I do now? I brought her in the house, got her nose cleaned up and have offered bottle several more times. No go....... This is the younger of 2. Bunny ate well and acting normally.

Thanks in advance
Kassandra

First thing I'd do is treat her for Coccidia, with DiMethox. She could be having a secondary infection due to a weakened condition, and I've heard of cocci kids having snotty noses that clear up when treated.

I dunno what kind of kid you're feeding...I feed 6 wk old standard kids 60 oz a day (in 3 - 20oz bottles). 12 oz two times a day is NOT enough, IMHO...
I'd feed mini kids 3 x w/ 12 oz.
Kate, you're the lil goat bottle feeding expert, does that sound right?

Yup, sounds like subclinical cocci, which has led to constipation more than likely - so add an enema, 1 tsp bicarb and some milk of magnesia (3 cc or so) to that dimethox.

Minis, like Pygmies and Nigis, should get between 30 and 40 oz a day at that age.

Ok enema of bicarbonate and MOM, dimethox by mouth.
Question on dimethox. I have the powdered form but have already used part of pkg for chickens. Any other dilution formulations available. I might have half or so pkg available, just don't want to OD that.
