I'm going to start working on a playground for my herd of goats. Wire spools, picnic tables, ramps, anything i can think of for them to climb on, jump over, and play "king of the hill" on. Any ideas for play equipment will be appreciative. I want to make it as fun and as interesting as possible for them. So here is my silly question. If I paint the equipment, would they enjoy bright "kid" colors? Would the color matter to them at all? OR would it be better not to paint at all. I'm worried that if I painted it, they'd chew on it and the paint might hurt them? Any suggestions towards paint or play equipment ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't paint or stain it for fear that they would get sick from it. Children's play stuff made by Fisher Price works really well and seems to hold up nice. YOu can find them alot of times at yard sales or in the local papers cheap or even free sometimes. But its look has somethings to be desired most of the time. PS mine love one of those little orange and yellow child's slides it is like 3ft tall maybe.

Well...use non-toxic paint if you must. We painted our barn red, and the goats looked like cannibals for days! Don't worry, they were fine....but our barn looks a little strange, as we never repainted...it has teeth marks in it...

I agree that if you feel you need to paint it then use non toxic paint. With the goats jumping all over the toys they won't stay looking nicely painted very long anyway so I haven't painted anything they play on.

Other ideas: logs with no branches, tree stumps, large rocks, tires that are buried upright about halfway into the ground with several right next to each other, those igloo dog houses are great fun to jump on and use if it rains (at least for small goats), one of my Nigis favorite spots is on the rabbit hutch. Another favorite place for ALL my goats is playing on the 10x8 roof that is already made but laying on the ground until we get the walls up for it to go onto. They LOVE running all over that roof. My husband is actually going to make them their own roof just to play on once we get that one put up onto their shed.

Have fun... can't wait to see pictures of their playground. :D
