I'd like to touch on an issue. Spanish Mustangs are not BLM horses. Spanish Mustangs have been registered & preserved since the 50's...not long after AQHA was founded.
I'm not sure when folks started referring to BLM horses as "Spanish Mustangs" but that name is incorrect. BLM horses are beautiful animals but they are made up of any number of different breeds.... Morgan, QH & several draft breeds etc.
Spanish Mustangs are as close to the horses that came off the Conquistador's ships as can be found. If for any reason they aren't straight, they aren't Spanish Mustangs.
There are less than two thousand straight living Spanish Mustangs in existence today. They are on the endangered list as critical.
