I have a milking mom who has developed staph on udder. Pulled 3 kids and was using milk to feed 5, now 1 kid has staph on nose and mouth. Been treating mom with bleach/dish soap solution. Then applying betadine and triple antibiotic to affected area. Justnputting betadine on kids nose. Am I doing the right thing?

Are you sure this is staph?
Sounds like soremouth (orf).
You can get secondary infections with soremouth that may require anti-biotics.

I recommend reading the following 3 articles. the first is for staph, the following 2 are for soremouth.
If you think it is staph I would call a vet prior to treatment. Staph, depending on which kind, can be a real issue when it comes to udders. Bluebag mastitis can be caused by staph or e-coli and you can lose one or both udders- it is NASTY!

Thank you all for accepting me and responding. I was almost at my wits end. Yes, it's staph. It started when 1 of 3 kids cut moms udder. I did not catch on in time to what was happening. Mom would NOT let kids nurse and I figured I would tie her up on milking table and force her to feed them. She went nuts. So I got to looking and boom, found where her udder was literally split on both sides from kids teeth and them fighting over teats. But, it was too late. Infection had set in. So I prayed and started looking for help. Came across you guys, hit the feed store, and finally called the fellow I got her from. He suggested I giver her penicillin. I did the entire herd, all 5 kids, and the other doe. Today everything but the huge bump on moms udder is clearing up. All the kids have cleared.

@Sadie Walker very glad you caught it and treatment is underway!
This is not very common and although unfortunate for you as @Latestarter said if you have any pics (even now) that would be great. It sure could be a very valuable resource for others and could save a goat's life!

So now lets give you a proper welcome!

Welcome to BYH! :frow
A few things you may want to know....

Most of all though we will rejoice with another, cry with and for each other, always try to help, and encourage strongly any new addition of goats.

We even have our own little Goat addicts thread.:D
