I dont want to be shot but i was thinking about going to the stockyard nearby to get another goat. Should i be shot? lol what is the likely hood i will bring home a disease to my other goat? How could i quantine this new goat? The only reason why i would consider going is that my aunt used to get alot of her goats and other livestock there if she couldn't find what she needed elsewhere and they for the most part did well. If i do go what should i look for and how are the prices? I need to get my goat a friend but dont want to pay 100 for a goat mutt that i will most likely not beable to milk. thanks

Have you tried craigslist? If there are no ads, you could post a wanted ad, letting people know this is for a pet, not meat. People are getting rid of animals due to the economy.

Where are you located? I know a lady in MO that is moving and selling her entire herd pretty cheap. I bought a few nice 100% from her for little of nothing.

She is near Odessa Missouri. Ones that I know she has is boer, nubian, alpine, and toggenburgs. She may have others. Some are purebred, some are registered, some are crosses. If you'll leave me your email I'll pass it on to her and have her get in touch with you. The more you buy the bigger the deal she'll make for you. She gave me one heck of a deal on the 4 I bought from her. Very sweet lady.

No matter where you get a new animal from you always take a chance at bringing in something new. To seperate the animals I built pens within pens. And when the animals make it to the keeper list they go over to the other side of the farm. The ones that are moving on to a new family will stay in the outer areas and are allowed to pasture and browse. We try not to buy but only once a month, so that we don't have to keep animals in quarantine any longer than we have to.

We just picked up a mamma and wether son needing re-homing for 80 bucks. Totally lucked out on that find! And super nice people
