Just goes to show, mutts can't be trusted 100%!

Just discovered our dog slobbering up and chasing our doe, Lily, so badly that she's standing and panting like, well a dog. At least,, that's what I assumed happened since her neck is soaked. Thought she was dying at first, scared the poo outta me. Never saw a goat pant like that before.

Dogs and goats have been great together for almost a year but now, all of a sudden, the dog thinks it's fun to aggravate Lily. :he

Goats are currently locked up in their shed to calm down.

Is there anything I should give her to take her stress down? I gave her a little snack but does she need anything else?

We've been trying to get fencing up to seperate the goats. It's been slow going with the weather and husband's gout but it's going to have to be a priority now!

And since I don't know any other way to post a video, here's a short clip I got of her panting:

Sorry that happened. I have two dogs that cannot be loose around my livestock. They are trainable breeds but they have a lot of prey drive, and it's just easier to keep them in their own fenced in area. I also tend to be a worrier, so even if I trained them to be around the chickens and goats, I'd still probably worry too much to let them be alone together.

I'm glad you were able to catch that! We lost our herd queen to a stray last Fall, and we have since added a great pyr. She was a puppy, but she was raised around livestock. She's been very good with them, but we also had to teach her it's not OK to chase and "play" with the goats. She liked to slobber the chickens too, but she's since learned to ignore them. I think your girl will calm down and be just fine. Sometimes I give mine an animal cracker or an herbal treat as a special prize. They like bananas too. We do that after medicine or hoof trims, anything that makes their nerves bad. They seem to appreciate the treat and extra rubs.
