Teresa did call USDA and made an appointment for early January so we will find out if it's worth the effort. We didn't expect much when we applied for a grant when we put the roof over the handling area and the state wound up covering over a third of the cost. They don't cover any lambs that are not weaned but they cover for total animals as of Oct 31st of this year other than lambs still nursing.

$40 a head for cattle may not sound like alot to some... but start multiplying it and it adds up.. $40 / 1 head.... $400/10 head..... $4000 for 100 head... I am going to tell DS to ask about it if he doesn't know about it already... Especially since we have 125 mature brood cows, plus over 80 feeders right now that are weaned and on feed... It would sure make a nice small dent for us.... and for many that is a couple bags of feed per head of cattle... nothing to sneeze at.

The USDA indicated that the dollar amount could be $30 a head for sheep so I won't throw that one away.

On the lighter side, There seems to be another Manning joining the football world. Arch Manning is active tonight as the quarterback with Texas vs Texas Tech. I can't help it but I have been a fan of the Mannings since Archie Manning. with the Saints :)
