We had such a laugh this morning.

Little Chops was chasing around the pen, tossing the hay bucket about. He was chasing his mum, and she was running like mad to get out of his way, the other two does were freaking out, just trying to keep out of the way.

I was watching from the window, laughing at his antics, when I thought this is not right.

I dashed over to the pen, and yes just as I had thought, he had got his head under the handle, so the bucket was round his neck. Wish I had a video camera.

Is nothing safe when goats are about.

They now have big tubs for their hay. :gig

Same thing happened here....I'd set my empty water bucket down for a moment to snuggle the goats, and one of the doelings got stuck and panicked! Poor thing!! I had a really tough time catching her and holding her still long enough to remove it...of course, it was my biggest and strongest doeling!

Learned my lesson, though, cuz I KNOW she didn't learn hers!

It never fails to amaze me, you think you have covered all bases, but no. I like to think goats are clever and fun loving and sweet and all sorts of stuff like that.

But you know, I just sometimes wonder :gig

I guess that is the real reason why I keep goats, you never know what they're going to get themselves into. I am down to 7 total now and someone is into something else everyday. The wind was blowing hard in Palmer Alaska the past few days and generally speaking, most of my animals try to find protection when the wind gets to be up around 50mph. I was a little worried about the goats (the horses and chickens and ducks all have places to go and the sense to go there). When I got home from work I went straight to the goats, I could hardly stand up in the wind. Sure enough, there they were out in the gale force wind catching the leaves and eating them as the wind blew them from the trees, just as happy as they could be.

jross- love that picture.

Yes goats to keep us on our toes.

they make my sheep look almost boring. Don't misunderstand I love my sheep just as much, but the goats does have much better personalities, and their inquisitive nature and mischief, is second to none.

I love em.

My next doe is due anytime, I have around 11 October as being the due date, but have this feeling is going to be earlier. :hu
