I have lost my mind. Long story short, I discovered a craigslist ad with three packing llamas and all their gear. We went to see them, and yes, we got them. They were passed from owner to owner for awhile (nobody's fault -- general circumstances) and the current owner discovered he doesn't have enough time for llamas as well as all the other farm critters. So, basically I got three llamas who worked for an outfitter at one time, all their tack, and a bunch of supplies.

One is in desperate need of a shearing, but with winter coming on, I don't feel good about shearing him now. They all need their nails trimmed. They met Sid and Llorelei and seem more or less scared. That will change. The alpha llama of the group hid behind the other two. He's pushy at the moment and needs some basic ground manners, but I think he is a nice looking guy.

Basically I have two pintos and a brown, ages around 8-9 for two of them and 13 for the other one. The thirteen year old has something going on with his eye that the former owner said would clear up with terramycin. I will probably have a vet clip their nails and look at that eye.

Thanks everyone!

DH called up a llama saddle/ pack maker that we knew and he pointed us in the direction of the guy who now made this design of pack that we got with the llamas. We have four saddles and a bunch of panniers, and a slew of llama equipment. The saddle guy told us over the phone "wow, you got a heck of a deal." So, we got our game hauling llamas and packs for the hunting season and for any other time. They all will get sheared this spring and I should be able to send the fiber to a processor.

Basically, we have some amazingly useful animals to guard our livestock who will pack for us. Sid was a great llama for walking with us but he's too old now and we didn't have a pack. Now with these three, we have packs and we can work with them and Llorelei to get them used to hunting and carrying our game back. Very good. Sid is still king, but he's just an older critter and needs to stay home and play guard.
