My last doe that was pregnant had her babies Friday night. We were busy all Friday evening getting things ready for a party we had yesterday. I went out to feed the outdoor cats, and noticed Trixie laying in a secluded corner of the goat yard. I didn't think much about it until she failed to get up and come see me with all the other goats. I checked out her backside, but didn't see anyhting indicating impending birth.
We had some friends here helping set up for the party and visited with them for a bit. I went in awhile later to make a fruit salad, and after finishing that up and cleaning up the kitchen, it was midnight. I thought I'd go check on Trixie before going to bed, and found her in the middle of the goat yard with her 2 newborn bucklings!
They are so darling---buckskin and white with black markings---and they both have wattles! Too bad they are both boys, but it makes my decision about who to keep (one of Flory's doelings) easy. I am thinking about trading one of them for a Boer doeling my son's GF has.
Here are the pictures of Trixie and her little boys.
