I have two bucks that are just a week and a half from being 2 months old. They have always been great eaters and always finnished their bottles. The last about 2 days one of them has not been finnishing his bottle. They are still fed 20oz 3x a day. The morning feeding he leave about 2oz but the 2:00 feeding and the 9pm feeding he leave any where from 4ish oz to 10oz. If I try and get him back to the bottle he just turns and walks away. Now I also have them in with my 4yr old doe and she has been showing them everything to eat, so they are brouseing all day long as well as getting about a cup of alfalfa pellets in the morning and local grass hay all day. At first I thought that maybe he was just filling himself on all that, but the other boy eats the same stuff and still attacks his bottle untill it is gone and then wants the left overs from his brother. Of corse I don't give it to him. Any ideas??

If he were mine, I'd probably try a B shot and some probios, and maybe do a round of cocci prevention to see if that helped his appetite any....

Or have a fecal ran to verify.

Appetites can vary, even in siblings....but I like to make sure there isn't a sub clinical case of coccidiosis holding them back.

I have 3 bottle babies that did the same thing. They were born the first week of January. All three went through a couple of days where they didn't finish their bottles. They weren't sick at all, this lasted a couple of days. Next thing I knew they were sucking them down and wanting more. I had them on the 3xa day 20 ounces amount too. The 2 bucklings THEN acted like they were starving to death all the time! They had hay and grain all the time and weren't even eating much of that then. They took turns having their off days on not wanting as much to eat.
I do the probios and B complex, etc too. Cause of course I worried why they weren't wanting their milk. But it turned out to be a non issue and only lasted a couple of days. Right now they are eating hay and grain, and wanting every drop of their milk. Little do they know bottle weaning time is not that far away! :D
