My cashmere buck is rather tenacious and JUST managed to go through my pig pasture to get to my registered French Alpine star earning milking doe! She has a date this evening with the buck I actually want her bred to. She's clearly been "gotten" as she's leaking more than her own discharge now.
I am awaiting a call from my livestock vet but does anyone know if there's anything that can be done to clean her out and lessen the chances of her having the cashmere boys kids?

Talk to the vet about a "lute" shot.... lutalyse will cause them to go back into heat. You have to wait for at least 5-7 days so the progesterone is rising, so the lute will cause it to wane, the fertilized egg to slough out and she will cycle again. It can also be called estrumate... different brand.
But the answer is YES, it can be aborted, early on, and she will come back in heat. Not sure on the goat cycle timing... on the cattle we usually wait for 14-21 days... mostly to see if they happen to come back in heat (didn't settle). In cattle the lute shot works good up until about 90 days... and you can also add a shot of dexamethasone... many cattle farmers give both and it is about a guaranteed abort the pregnancy and start over. The sooner the better once the hormones are working... too soon and she might not slip it; but aborting at 3-4 weeks is not a big deal as that can often happen in nature called an early embryonic death and you never even know it..... and they go on and cycle again real well... in cattle letting them get to 4 months, there can sometimes be problems with retained material and not cleaning right. Again, they carry 9 months as opposed to goats carrying 5 months?
