Hey every one, i just wanted to say thankyou so much for your support and ideas.
I'm so happy to say that i still have Ben and we are going amazingly.
Shortly after my last post i started having severe panics attacks while riding Ben and had to stop riding for a few months. In that time i changed:
- instructors, to a lady who understands anxiety in riders and horses. She helped me alot with breathing exercises and focusing on balancing him and supporting him through constant leg connection.
-sought medical help for my anxiety.
-changed ben's feed to a more hay based and less pallet.
-and changed his paddock, just moving him into a low quality grass paddock has made such a difference on his temperament. Before we used to have to muzzle him and basically keep him in a 1/4 of his paddock because he would just gain weight over night. Now he is able to graze constantly and get 3 largish meals a day.
Ben is still throwing little tandtrums as i try to balance him, but nothing in comparison to before, he is so much happier and calls out to me from his paddock as soon as he sees my car pull up. We even went for a canter around the tracks with another rider the other day and he didnt put a foot out of line!
