-One of the twin bucks has very dark, tarry sometimes runny, sometimes dog log style poop. He is eating and nursing fine. Last night his ears felt a bit cooler than the other kids. Not as perky as usual but up and about. Any clue what may be causing this? Other 3 kids are fine.

He quit eating and was just standing so we took him to the vet. She suspected wormload. But she won't give much without a fecal sample. She said it was OK to give him kefir and gave him Ivomec and an antiinflammatory. This morning I gave him more kefir, he seemed perkier but still was just standing. We brought him onto the carport and I wanted from 10AM until 2PM to get a fecal sample. That accomplished, I took it to the vet. He has hookworms so she have me a stronger version of Ivomec and told me to do all 4 kids.
I'll give him more kefir tonight when the others get fed. She said to bring him back if he's not better in a day or so.

I did ask her if she had the meds for coccia. Yes. that was good to know.

We've had several weeks of constant wet and overcast weather which I'm sure let to massive worm outbreaks. It sure has bred the mosquitoes.

Now he just stands or lays down in the shade. I haven't seen him chewing his cud (may have missed it). When I go out there, he just hugs me. I don't know what to give him. I have kefir and vitamin C. Would that help? What could be the causes?

I am by no means the expert, but let me ask you a couple of questions. Has his diet changed recently? Is it possible he ate something that he should not have eaten, if yes, what? You may want to get a vet out or a goat mentor if you have one. Just standing or laying down does not seem like a good thing. I switched my 10 month old Boer Buck to a different food to prevent stones and while I was slowing taking him off the old food and adding the new food, he got scours (runny poop). I did what I have read on BYH many times and gave him no grain for a a couple of days, Scours went away and started the food switch again, but more gradually. He is good now.

I also have seen persons on BYH recommend ScourHalt, but not sure if that is safe for a 3 month old.

Also - Change your Subject of your post to read "HELP - 3 mo Buckling, Scours, lethargic"

if he were here, would treat for coccidious. we prefer albon. a bit pricey, but give individually and they like the taste, so no trouble dosing them. just the right age. many other products to treat with. do not delay, it causes damage and possibly death quickly. you can have a fecal run, but we just treat and if it goes away, that was the problem. if not, then we have fecal done and do what veterinarian reccomends

There are very few medications for goats available. His diet has not changed. I did bring in a variety of branches and bushes. I don't know what they are but they all ate the same things. He could have eaten more of something than the other kids did. He may have eaten more grain than the others. Last night he didn't want to eat with the other boys. He stayed outside and ate with the doeling. I won't let him have any grain tonight.
He does get up and eat and was wanting to nurse from mama.
I'll call the vet and see what she has available.
