Hello. Thank u for opening up this forum!! I have a few questions for all you chicken and duck experts...I'm hoping for some cute babies this spring from my small flock and I'm not sure what I have to vaccinate for. Any suggestions are helpful. I've read that ACV can help a lot but do I give that from day 1?

You know, some folks believe in doing the vaccinations..and some don't. I just use the medicated chick feed. I don't breed though..could be a dif there...

You don't HAVE to vaccinate for anything. A lot of people choose to do it for Mareks because it spreads so quickly and is fatal, and that has to be done at hatch on their first day. I ordered my chicks and paid the extra few cents to have it done. Medicated chick starter is also a good idea for a few weeks so they won't die of coccidia. I used ACV, one tablespoon per gallon, from day one. Chickens are so addictive!

Oh I will read more about the medicated feed. Thus will be my first time having them breed so I'm very new to it all!

Ok kla, if I post 10 posts, will I be exploring the pasture instead of just been born? This is number 8. :p

I agree. They are so addictive! And then you start to want more farm animals(well that's what is happening to me)! So where would I get that Mareks vaccination? Is is OK to do all the above? ACV, medicated feed and vaccinate for Mareke?

K, number 9 post..I'm on a roll...have to let you know, my Partridge Rock laid an awsome sized egg again today. She laid a double yolker the very fist time..huge egg, but after laying three large ones, she went to the normal size a pullet should lay. She is a big girl. Finally, today..another big one. Think she getting the hang of it.
