Hello!
It’s been a while (at least it feels like it) since I’ve been here. Just wanted to hop on to say our ewe Peggy gave us our very first lambs EVER last night around 9pm. 2 beautiful ewe lambs! I saw her laying on her side for a long time through the game cameras and when we got out there to check she had lambed but was stuck on her side, she was unable to get up but was trying to lick her babies every time they passed by her. We turned her over to her belly and she got up immediately to lick them. Got momma and lambs into a shed where they can bond, she allowed them both to nurse. I milked a little colostrum out of each teat. Gave water and plenty of hay for ewe. Haven’t gotten much sleep and I’m up early to go check on them. This is super exciting! Praise GOD!

Well… I went out and found a third lamb dead in the shed 😔 looks like Peggy (ewe) licked her clean but the little hooves and legs were still together like it never got up to stand/walk. I feel like such a failure. We spent almost 2 hours out there last night after she lambed the first 2 and I didn’t see any signs of her going back into labor. Ugh!!!! I know this is just a part of owning animals and I understand that God is always in control, He alone is the one who can give and take away. I’m just having a really difficult time with it right now. Peggy and 2 ewe lambs are doing well.

For rest of the forum, KodeshAcres shared pictures. When she left Peggy was up nursing her 2 ewe lambs and has delivered the afterbirths. Our surmise is the third lamb slipped far back while Peggy was cast (stuck on side). Unfortunately, she presented head forward, legs back when labor resumed. The birth canal tightened on neck choking lamb as Peggy tried to deliver the shoulders. Peggy did her best by licking ewe lamb clean but it was too late. :hit

I am so sorry you lost the last lamb, @KodeshAcres!

First congratulations on the two beautiful ewe lambs! So exciting, especially your first ones.
Sad, and sorry you lost the third of the triplets. Unfortunately, that happens sometimes no matter how hard we try to keep things perfect. You've learned a lot already. LOL and of course there's always a lot of learning - thank God that it all doesn't come at once (though the human condition is know it all now ).
Beautiful lambs and mama ewe Peggy.
