I am very happy to report that Dominic is up to a two and a half instead of a one on the weight scale; its still not where I would like to see him, but when we switched him over to the ram specific sweet feed he began putting weight on faster :D
AND I spotted him trying to breed one of his ladies today :bun trying, failed miserably, but the attempt was a wonderful and reassuring sight.

Ram lambs can take a Long time to fatten.

My favourite Blue Faced Leicester ram lamb (bottle fed due to rejection, severe pneumonia in first week of life) is now 5 months old and weighs 60kg, BUT his spine and ribs are still very prominent.

Rams,in particular, put on muscle and bone first before they fatten, unlike ewe lambs. If Dominic is growing, eating, and has energy, sit back and relax.

He's really adorable! He looks pretty plump from the side. Does he seem to be doing better? He's sooo cute!
He seems to be moving around a lot better and his stomach is nice and round. His spine however is still feelable which I dont like :(
Hes like a....2 on the scoring chart.
His eyelids are nice and pink, and he is eating very well now :D
My Shetland lambs are ALL that skinny (2-3 body score). They are perfectly healthy though. It is because they are a primitive breed. I was worried about mine after 2 years of skinny lambs. I talked to a bunch of different folks with various primitive breeds and they all said the same thing, the lambs always appear to be really skinny. It's just the way they are. :idunno

My Shetland ewe lamb that Rosie popped out was the fattest little thing on the face of the planet, but if what your saying is true then that makes 100% sense and makes me VERY happy :)
