Went to auction today

They sold some goats. $175.00 each for two of them the third was $75.00. I was amazed that two went so high guess it is from Easter being so close. These were not meat goats either. Then again all prices were high today on all types of cows.

This close to Easter goat prices get very high. We took our meat kids and cull does in January and prices were almost $2/lb.

I heard that beef prices are supposed to go up drastically this year due to the drought and beef shortages caused by it out west. Maybe goat prices will too?

Pork prices are definitely going to rise because of that PED virus. The commercial farms around here are losing entire generations of piglets. I think they are experiencing the same in Iowa and Iowa and NC are 1 and 2 for production.

Yes, our auction barn prices on cows are up. Heck even our eggs prices are way up. Glad we are covered in all areas now.

Pigs this year are SO expensive.
I know several TOP hog producers around here and one of them lost about 2/3rds of their piglets this year, as well as one of their top breeding sows. So awful... Took a pretty big hit on their business.
All because of the virus. So yeah, I bet prices for pork will be extremely high this year.
