What breeds do you think she is?

I just got her yesterday, and the lady told me she was a pure alpine but I dont think she is. I do think she has some alpine but there is something else b/c she has longer hair on her back legs and the hair down her spine is much longer.

Is her redish b/c she needs copper?

Copper deficiency doesn't cause a reddish tint, per se.. It's just more obvious on black goats because black fades to a reddish color when they get deficient.. Wouldn't expect a lighter colored goat to go reddish, though..

Sure that isn't just dusty/dirty white fur? I notice she's got the same color on her underbelly and the front bottom half of her forelegs -- all of which are body parts that hit the dirt when they lay down.

As for what she is...dunno. She's cute, though.

The long hair down the spine, and the "skirts" on the hind legs are quite common with Alpines and the other Swiss type breeds.

When clipped for showing... the long hair is removed. She certainly looks like an Alpine to me.

Was she with a buck in heavy rut? Sometimes the stinky pee on the bucks legs rub off on the doe's hindquarters like that.

All of my Alpines look like her! In fact, almost took a double-take because she looks just like my Smith! I do notice some staining from where/what they lay in, and Wessie has an orange patch due to some errant red cell... oops!

I wouldn't doubt she's mostly, if not all, Alpine.


Edit: the more I look at her picture, I am thinking her hair back there may just be that color... it's on her tail, too, and Wes has some brownish highlights, too!

Thanks everyone! The long hair was making think she had something else b/c all the pics online have short hair but I guess they have been clipped for shows ect. I'm happy either way b/c she is a very nice goat!
