What do you do with the stuff after making cheeses

What do with the liquid stuff after you make cheese? The stuff you drain out?

I heard its good for cooking..?

Feed it to pigs or chickens or water blueberries or any other acid loving plant.

There are some cheeses you can make with it (it's called whey). It's also supposed to make really good bread, I want to try that. Some people drink it (maybe sweetening it a little...).

So what cheese did you make? How did it turn out?

Yeah turns out it's called whey lol.

Well we made mozzeralla, feta & some other kind. I think. Might've just been those 2. But we ended up making ricotta with the whey. I'll have to find a recipe for bread.

The feta is still hanging, and he mozzeralla turned out good. Slightly salty, but otherwise it's good.

Also, FYI, when you're straining whey and there's clear liquid coming out.. It's not JUST water you can drink... Blergh...

We give it to our friends. One has a blueberry farm and the other has feeder pigs. NEVER put it down into your septic.

I read a really cool article on uses for whey. Try this link. (I hope that worked.) It's called "16 Uses for Whey", but actually has 18 listed. I searched google and found this article called "36 Ways to Use Whey and 5 Ways to Make It", and this one called "18 Ways to Use Whey-a By-Product of Greek Yogurt". I can't actually recommend the latter 2 since I have not read them, yet, but I'm dying to know how to make whey if it isn't strained off of milk. I can't wait to try some of these. Unfortunately, our boys are still babies, and we don't even HAVE does, yet. Talk about your cart and horse! I know, patience; but I get sooo tired of waiting!
